Seat Belt Buzzing

I don't know if you cousins have this problem, it may be USA only.

When I start my TVR, a buzzer sounds and the seat belt and brakes light come on for about 5 seconds and then all turn off. Lately, the light and buzzer stay on until I turn the headlights on-off. I'm guessing the extra power-draw from the light and motors is enough to "shock" the timer or sensor into turning off.

I'm going to look into corroded connectors, etc. but I thought I check with more experienced heads. Thanks Grady

PS/ There is no alarm/immobilizer fitted.

Are'nt they the only safety feature on the wedge

We have no lights / buzzers to remind us that we have not belted up, but it could be corroded terminals or is there some sort of sensor fitted to say someone is in the seat ?

In England it means 'exit car pronto', as there is a wasp in there somewhere !

Don't know what the final solution is, but my '85 280i recently began displaying the same problem. I initially thought that it was caused by a stuck relay in one of the brake circuits. But after pulling the relays and cleaning those contacts, after a week, the problem came back and persists even after I pull both brake circuit relays out.

After reading your posting, out of curiousity, I went down to the garage, started the car and when the buzzer didn't turn off automatically, I just flicked the headlight bright stalk switch. Buzzing immediately stopped!

Surely the collapsible windscreen from constitutes a crumple zone? And/or tends to pin you in place if you aren't belted in.
