Front suspension
Discussion
 Following the BBWF I realise that my 200 is a lot higher on the front end than all the other Wedges.
I must assume mine has incorrect springs fitted.
Does anyone know the original specs,(all the parts manuals i've seen don't have any details), and possible sources for the replacements?
Thanks

Brian, had exactly the same problem myself. Many of the dealers/suppliers believe that the springs are the same accross all of the Tasmin/Wedge range. I suspect that for the 200 they are different because of the lighter engine. Do you have your old springs? If you do then just get a set made up which match the old ones. If not let me know as I kept one of my old springs so you could use this to get 2 made. When I fitted the Cosworth engine the car sat slightly lower at the front so I had the springs lengthened. I may have the data from this, I'll have a look tonight and let you know.

Brian, found the data sheet for the springs I had altered. It's an A4 sheet with lots of info, much of it I am sure is unnecessary. Would probably be easier to fax it to you? Unless you are going to Tatton Park this weekend?
Thanks for your response. I haven't changed the springs so don't know the history BUT I have just noticed in the article on the 200 in the Gold Collection entitled 'Low-Cost machismo' the following: 'despite the weight saved by the replacementof the cologne vc....the suspension settings have yet to be revised. Moreover a temporary
exhaust was fitted....'
My car has only one fuel tank as it has a differant exhaust system than any i've seen listed so I am now wondering if mine is a very early version of the 200.
I'll email you my fax no. as i'd love the data sheet.
I was at Dalemain Classic Car Show at the weekend as we had a stand there.
I recently rebult my suspension and in the process wound up with 2 different sets of springs, supposedly the same spec, but both front and rear were different. The springs I was replacing were non-standard and knackered so I couldn't compare them with the new ones so I took a chance and used the longer, softer ones, but now the front is at least a couple of inches too high.
I had problems with the rear too. The first set of springs I got were also too long.

Yeah it looked high to me - some chaps have had a good result just by shortening them - try searching the wedge forum for related threads.
It can't be much fun at speed!
I wouldn't know Adam. It spends most of it's life in a garage having the engine rebuilt!

Brian - that's because you've got too many pies in the boot!
