Id just renewed my insurance, and I thought I would share it with you all, £222.00 fully comp. limited mileage, with www.footmanjames.co.uk

ps I am currently working on a device right now, which is built into a car amp case, the device has 4 connections on the rear panel, one power 12V 2 connect to modified number plate lights and the third connection is the trigger, which senses a flash of light, and is located in the car. Once the sensor detects the flash, the main unit sends a 4k pulse to the modified number plate lights, which are charged with 360V subsequently causing a flash of bright light, over illuminating the plate, I've tried to take a picture of my plate, the picture comes out as two bright diamond shapes of light.
There are some bugs which I'm working on, and I'll update soon with some photos.

Nice work on the insurance prof.

when insuring my 350i I found it was cheaper to go with Direct Line on a standard policy using my NCB (£600 - I thought ok for a 26 year old on a group 20 Tiv!)than it was for a limited mileage classic policy.
Most classic insurers told me Tivs are loaded as people are currently binning them with alarming regularity

Does anyone have details for the TVRCC insurance co. as I'm still waiting for my membership to come through? Cheers!

The club insurance is through A Manning UK ltd - 01491 578759 - Very competitve. I've just taken a policy out with them for the SEAC.

Just renewed mine with Classicline, £220 5k limit, didn't even bother checking as they were substantially cheaper than everybody else last year.

I think the slave flash idea has been tried (years ago by one of the car mags) - by the time your slaves fire, the picture has been taken.
In some cases, the Police found that if they couldn't read the picture, they could read the negative...

As for your device I should patent it sharpish (unless it has been done before as a previous post suggests) and get it out in the car spares shops in some form of kit PDQ!

But what about unevenly smearing the plate with vaseline?

Renewed 280i last week with Heritage: £140 for only car with 3k limited mileage, and they said £120 if second car. This is about 250 quid less than I was paying, and seems scarily low - fingers crossed!

I tried Heritage/Norton Insurance. They came up with a terrific quote for 2 cars. However when I read the small print they insisted that the cars should always be garaged. When I suggested that I could temporarily be leaving one out to give me space to work on the other. They said wouldn't cover the car left out, unless I paid extra for those times.

If these rules were strictly adhered to, virtually every claim would be rejected !

Go somewhere else, and don't discuss garages.

Strangley enough I did (just inside the 14 days cooling off period). As the small print made such a big thing about no cover if left out within 1 mile of home. I thought I'd better clarify.

Sod's law if it got nicked the one time it's left out and then find out it wasn't covered.
