Water level on my tasmin 359i

Can anybody tell me where the water level should be on my tasmin i keep topping it up to the top through the radiator cap (not the expansion tank) but it seem to be losing abou 2 inches every time. Is the normal ?

Topping up is done via the expansion tank to the marker indicated. Sounds like you're filling through the non-spring type cap leading to the rad top. pipe. Is it the type without the secondary expansion tank below the main one? My old 350I had an overflow to the front ARB via a pipe, so whenever the coolant level exceeded the capacity of the tank (when hot) it was dumped! Easy to install a secondary catch tank, so that vacumn effect will draw the coolant back when it cools.

Should be absolutely full - not uncommon - probably means that you have an air lock. Remember that it's the only thing written in capitol letters in the owners handbook.

This is correct - it should be absolutely full.

That simply means that your car had lost the secondary overflow tank - they all have one but can be found anywhere in the engine bay; TVR put them all over the place.
