S1 V6 fuel injection relays

I'm finally getting close to having my +2 properly ready for the road, just as well with the MOT due soon.

The main thing I need to sort is the cold start and safety relays.

I've managed to get some replacements but have little idea where they're suppose to go.

As it's basically an early model the relays are under the bonnet on the offside wing, at the front of the engine bay.

There are 2 relays I've found that effect the fuel pump, but replacing either with the safety relay leads to the engine starting but then dying (possibly due to lack of fuel). These relays are the upper row rearmost relays.

I am of course assuming that the replacement relays I've bought are functioning and also correct for my cars age.

Does anyone know what the relay layout is for an early car (assuming the factory laid them out consistently), or what tests I can do to check the relays?

wasnt this discussion held a few months back? The cold start 'relay' (although it isnt a relay) is positioned at the front of the top row of the relays next to the hazard flasher and what I beleive to be a current limiting device for the heated rear window. Ill have to check which one the safety relay is. Of course, this is jsut on mine...as you point out TVR seemed to 'improve' the wiring with jsut about every car. Ian, yes your right I discussed this with you a couple of months back. Unfortunatley I've been distracted since then by less worthy things than wedges. Since the wedges MOT is due I think I at least need to sort the safety relay.

I think there have definately been some 'improvements' between our cars. My relays are grouped in a block of 6 with an additional one floating just ahead of the block, the hazard flasher was in the nosecone. However I've attached that to the relay block as it was just getting weathered.

I'm pretty certain mine differs from yours as, from what I have been able to determine, the front 2 relays and the seperate relay control the headlamps.

The 2 rearmost relays on the upper row stop the fuel pump when removed.

The rearmost lower row relay seems to kill almost everything, certainly the starter motor.

I'm guessing the remaining relay is the heated rear screen (never tested it), unless the relay for that is hiding somewhere I haven't been yet.
