The internal hinges are bolts that run into the bodywork either side of the boot lid. They are not mounted at the back edge like the outside / earlier variety.
You will obviously have to do some GRP repair work and some painting to cover the original holes and mounting points. And have to fabricate some strengthening brackets etc to take the loading of the boot lid.

From what I remember by looking at my cars side by side one with external hinge (350) and one with internal hinge (400) the actual boot recess is deeper on the 400 thus allowing the boot to open and not fouling the bodywork
Yeah I figured that; also maybe the bootlid is more square at the hinge edge?
