Just taken the wedge out of the garage for the first time for ages. (I've lost a lot of valuable time setting the wedge up to work and house moves etc)
As the MOT was almost due I decided to take it the long way to the MOT station.
I'd set the injection mixture and idle up by ear and in the garage all seemed well. Take it out on the road and all is fine and I'm enjoying a car that I think is properly set up, until the van in front of me slows down to turn. As I slip into 2nd ready to pull away, the engine stalls.
Everytime I let the engine speed drop it stalls. So I get it home, open the bonnet and start it, everything is fine. Until I lower the bonnet, when, just at the bonnet catch latches, the engine stalls.
I've rerouted the vacuum advance and warm up regulator pipes so they're not being trapped by the bonnet, but this had no effect.
Has anyone any clues what could be happening, I'm assuming it's not electrical.
Thanks.
Todd

This is sounding potentially messy, I've moved the vac advance and warm up reg pipes, so I'm guessing that leaves the main air inlet as the only thing touched by the bonnet closing.
Looks like the bonnet could be coming off again, not bad, in the last 4 months it will have been fitted for a day.

Yup the bonnet does squash the main air inlet as it comes oot of the fuel metering unit, you can see the indents in the sound deadening!
Just before you remove the bonnet though, take the main air duct off, and wiggle and waggle it in every direction possible, also check in the V where the take off to the crankcase breather is.
Apply liberal amounts of mastic to any, even minor, cracks you see. When you but the air duct back on, make sure its properly seated on the metering unit and securely jubilee clamped in, especially in that bloody annoying bit the butts up the the mixture adjuster screw pipe.

To try and get things running properly in July, I ended up Mastic sealing every joint in all the air hoses and clamping them too. Seemed to work, now I have another set of engine problems
so have given up and will perform a heart transplant on Tasmin sometime early next year.
If nothing else its building up NCB
