I just think it's a shame the Speed 8 was cut up by the factory. I saw the car in person at the factory many years ago and thought it was stunning. Too bad TVR didn't set up a museum to house some of its prototypes and significant models over the years instead of either chopping them up or letting them sit out and rot.

Try and find a wedge fan who wouldn't have one...
Have one: Ehhm, on my screensaver at work...., together with my own wedge I can drive.
Actually sat in the second version, and have a few pictures of it when I was at the factory (beginning of the '90's). Brilliant car, but as mentioned killed off by the Griffith. Otherwise it would have been necessary to introduce the term 'round-off wedge' or something like that.

I had thought the Speed Eight was the design study produced by BL/Austin Rover using a 350/390 chassis with a rounded body - they have this at the Heritage Museum at Gaydon.
Obviously I'm wrong, so what was that car called.
This car really looks great - shame they didn't go on to make it.

Thanks Alan ........... I think ( or do I detect a hint or sarcasm
)
Looking at the pics there are quite a few differences between the earlier blue one and the later black one.
The blue one appears to have a SE front bumper / spoiler and bonnet where as the black one is totally smooth and looks as though it would probaly overheat even quicker than usual due to no air intake at the front !
Maybe the black one was just some kind of design study ?

No sarcasm intended.. it's rare to see pics of the speed 8.
It still looks great ..

I've got a couple of publicity pics of the Speed 8, if I knew how to put them on here I would. They are of the first blue car, it has the 350SE wheels, what looks like a 390 bonnet with the vents in the bottom left and top right corners, still has the Escort/Capri door handles. In the side-on pic it looks a bit like a Corvette, in a good way. If I can get my scanner working in the next few days I'll put the pics where mine are hosted normally and maybe someone can transfer them to here.
Cheers, Al.
