A couple of months ago, I took the front hubs off to remove the rotors to have them skimmed. I immediately put the hubs back in place back on the axles but didn't tighten them. (1986 280i)
I remounted the passenger hub a couple of weeks ago and it it went smoothly.
I tried the the driver's side today and not so much. I can tighten the nut up until it runs out of threads but there is still lots of slop in hub.
Is there something that goes between the inner hub (inner rubber seal) on the shaft? Thanks! Grady

Dumb rookie mistake. The outer taper bearings had fallen out and rolled behind the jack stand. And my poor ears didn't hear it. Pulled the other side off, saw what was missing, found and cleaned/greased the bearings and we should be good to go. Installed the new calipers and pads and ran out of time. Next weekend I'll fit the hard lines to the calipers and bleed all 4 calipers. (hopefully
). Thanks Wedg1e for pointing me in the correct direction.
