Anyone fancy a SEAC?!
Discussion
Posting this in a "fit of peak"- (if that's the correct phrase). Lovely afternoon, thought I'd take the wedge out for its weekly run, only the 8th run since I bought it in August as always has some problem, just spentXX pounds getting electrics sorted, get in the car (looking lovely - the car not me- polished it before saying goodnight last weekend), turning it over, won't fire... Fuel pump is whirring away, has new spark plugs, plug in the cold start injector plug thingey on the plenum, still nowt.. Starting to regret selling our 400SE that started EVERY time and cost me HALF as much as this BXstxrd. Why does it do this to me? Swear, throw the cover back over the car, stomp inside and find myself looking on the Classified section of PH. I'm not mechanically minded and think I may have brought the wrong type of car..!Might feel better in the morning..
Try and keep smiling
. The lows of ownership make the highs twice as good!
I think most SEAC owners on this forum have ended up spending alot of time or money or both on their cars. If it makes you feel better have a look at the runnimg costs on my profile
. And when did the rear diff decide to go....just before BBW fest of course
I'm sure you'll get your car running and all will be well again - well for a while at least!

I'm beginning to feel uncomfortable, as I haven't spent a brass farthing on my 390 yet, apart from fuel, about 2 litres of oil, and a couple of tyres.
That's in the last 4,000 miles.
Spent over two and a half grand in 3000 miles on the 280 though.
Anyone want to buy a reliable TVR ?

I've had mine for just over 5years now. I've found that the spending/aggro goes in fits and starts. I spent about £1500 on parts when I first bought it, then nothing of any consequence for four years other than stuff I wanted to buy(like a new interior
) Then this year has cost me about £2k, gearbox, ECU and setup, injectors, radiator, paintwork, chassis etc.
Which overall I'm happy with. A bit more planning in anticipation of this years outlay would have helped though. Luckily I also do nearly all of my own work (rolling road stuff excepted)
I've also found it's better and more reliable with more use. So don't despair too much.

Jamie,
My SEAC did this sort of thing. PIA generally outweighed by the grin factor of warp speed accel.
I wouldn't recommend using the cold start injector at all. Mine was tempramental and I found the main engine earth on the back of the engine just needed a clean and tighten up and it would start. I used to keep the throttle wide open to help get it going. This was a trick learnt on 14CUX (Hot wire) early 4.2 Range Rovers. My SEAC had a stage 4 engine from the factory so was a tempramental ba**ard and I regret, to this day selling it due to lack of use.
