Crankshaft Pulley removal
Discussion
Iv'e got a noisy cam folower on my 350.
Its done 75k now, so guess it's time for new cam, followers etc. I have removed the inlet manifold, and am ready to remove the front plate. But how do I undo the crankshaft pulley bolt?
Also any recommendations for which cam to put in, just looking for a mild upgrade.

Get someone to sit in the car with it in gear and their foot on the brake. Put socket on crank pulley and undo
My method (above technique failed): Put socket on 2 foot cracking bar. Rest cracking bar on ground. Switch ignition on and turn engine briefly on starter (ignition disconnected). Bent the cracking bar but it got the bolt out!

Main problem with the " sticking it in 4th gear method, was that with a short extension on the socket, I was only able to move between the water pump pulley & the wing, and that was not enough to take up the play.My longer extension was too long to fit.I do have a compresor, but no air wrench.
Will try taking the water pump off next. If that still doesnt do it, will buy an impact wrench.

I'm not the biggest beefcake in the world but have always found that with a decent breaker bar I can out torque my 1/2-inch air impact wrench. I have never successfully used it to undo something I couldn't do with hand tools. It is an ell cheapo one that came in an air tools kit with the compressor. When I took my rear hub to the garage to ask them to take the hub nut off (220ft lbs and too much locktight) they first used their shop 3/4-inch impact wrench and then got out the breaker bar, which did the trick.
I'd favour dismantling to gain better access rather than buying/renting the air tool.
