99 Octane petrol

Tesco were supposed to be coming out with this. Anybody tried it yet?

My 390 always ran really well on 4 star. Nice grey exhaust and loud bangs on some gear changes. What's wrong with a bit of lead anyway?

I went over to Italy on my bike a few years ago and 98 was available. Bike ran really well, with nice blue flames out the exhaust. Excellent in the Gothard tunnel and Stelvio Pass. How come we're lumbered with 97?

I use it in the SX - seems pretty good. I also keep some octane boost in the boot in case I get a bad batch or have to drop down to normal unleaded.

I guess I should try it in the 350i back to back with normal - see if there is a difference.

Haven't sen the 99 octane up in deepest darkest Aberdeen. Mores the pity.

The new Tesco here in Clacton has just acquired a gas station. I intended to pop over there the other day but I heard the pumps had failed on 2 consecutive days.

Whilst I usually use Optimax or BP super whotsit, I'll give it a try.

I used it in my recently rebuilt SP6, and it didnt like it at all. After filling up 50ltrs my car would cut out on start up (Cold Start albeit) I had to restart the engine twice on each occasion from cold. Maybe it was the ECU trying to re-adjust to the new octane? I dont know. But this happened each time from cold start until I went back to Optimax (Bizarre) I think I'll stick to Optimax.

I have now used Tesco 99 in place of optimax. I haven't noticed an improvement in the performance of the 350 but on the flipside I have also noticed absolutely no difference than the (much) more expensive optimax either. So I will be sticking to the 99 until someone comes up with 100!

You'll need to advance the ignition to take advantage of the higher octane rating before you'll notice the difference.

I put 20 litres of this in the other day on top of the remains of some Optimax - and now have a blown exhaust!

Apart fom that - waste of time. Petrol station ridiculously crowded with muppets filling up with fuel and taking 5 mins to vacate the pump after filling up, and then finding I couldn't pay at the pump and so save queueing, then had to switch on pump myself! Disaster!

Put some Optimax in on Saturday - straight in to the pump, no wait - in and out rather quickly - the way it should be.
