Based in Shefield, don't know what there like in terms of customer service, price etc...

Dunno - I've never used them. Their online catelogue looks ok and a stack of invoices from them came with my wedge (for parts only, not servicing). The previous owner of my wedge (a complete wedge anorak) lived on the south coast and if he used them, I'd guess they'd be OK, although as I said, I have not used them myself.

They're great!

They look after my 400SE - and have just helped me re-build a 290S (Full chassis job) - they are just completing a pristine 100% show re-build on the White Elephant chassis - and race prep my Tasmin race car.



They also gave birth to this!





Awesome - and they make a good cuppa too!

That's THE rtracing....Richard Thorpe.

They did loads of work on my 280i earlier this year, before I sold it.

I used them to supply parts back when they were Wedge Automotive.
They dispatched the parts in a timely manner and, with the exception of the driveshaft K-lock nuts, everything was correct and in order.
I didn't bother about the nuts as they were obtained locally for pence.
I felt a bit overcharged for the "rear suspension, bush upgrade package" which was just eight bits of turned plastic, probably an engineering grade of nylon, with stainless inserts, didn't look like that much considering the money but it did the job. If I were doing that again I'd probably knock my own ones up and use the money for something a bit more specialist that I couldn't do myself in half an hour.
They have been helpful over the phone on many occasions offering advice and instructions, and I would use them again for parts.

Anyone know the history behind why they changed names? Nothing iffy I hope?

from me. I had all my suspension shocks, springs, bushes supplied and fitted & geometry sorted by Richard and his team. Friendly helpful service.
Even though they are quite a distance, for me it's worth it.

Wedgeman, i had a look at the elephant chassis when i picked up my 400.....looking good.

Purely a business decision. Richard told me he'd changed it so he didn't put off other TVR model owners from taking their cars there. I'd be happy to recommend him as well. If I had the money, my 390 would be with him now.

I only asked because it seems strange that on their About Us Web page there is no mention of "being in business for umpteen years" and "formerly Wedge Automotive" both things to be proud of? It raised a question in my mind at least, but then I am a suspicious bu99er.

flippin long way to go to get the car serviced , dont you wedge owners do it yourself as it is an old car now and quite basic , are there any wedge specialists near northampton as i'm going to need an mot mid feb if it aint sold by then.

Richard Thorpe is a legend, Just ring the number, Richard will answer, ask him anything and he will tell you, even if you dont buy anything. I have tried a few but RT have to be the best I have found. IMHO And A Nice Bloke

Richard joins us every year at the continental meeting from the dutch TVR Club. He is very friendly guy and he was very kind to me when i asked him for advice on a leaking swirlpot. It's the first one i would contact for parts if there is something we can't get/make over here.

Still remember i believe two griffs from wedge automotive with exhausts that bend 90 degrees and went up more than a feet, they were awsome!

Yep, Richard is a top chap - I spoke to him on his mobile when they were on their way to belt around in his race car - he had all the time in the world for me. Thinking about purchasing the seat brace off him.

Im a DIY man and its part of TVR ownership for me (cant take to the new ones!! and I hate CATS!!!), he always takes the time to give good sound advice... good service and parts!. You dont get that feeling of "you should leave your TVR to the experts sir" that you get from main dealers... he is also a TVRCC helpline.
