Bodywork repairs

Probably one of my worst motoring weeks. I put diesel in it on Friday and today I lose it coming off a rounabout and clatter in to a sign post. I suppose it's classed as light damage, (new nose cone, drives fine) but I'm feckin devastated.
Question : Who does the best repair jobs?. The insurance company has told me I can pick

Sorry to hear that. At least you are ok! My brother spun his at the end of last summer and i was on the first row cause i was driving my wedge behind him. Really hurts when you see someones P&J hit a signpost.. He was lucky as the front spoiler took all of the impact and except for the spoiler no cracks on the rest of the front end.

So sorry to hear the news Wyn. cant help with who to take it to but I know where not to take it my mates chimp has been back to the paint shop 5 times in 5 months and it stll look sh*t so be carefull !! with all the Wedgers in South Wales someone will know where to go.. Good Luck

Wyn, I used these when an artic slid down the side of my 350, leaving a deep gash about 4' long and ripping the mirror pod clean off. www.tvrbodyshop.co.uk Not too far from you and I was very pleased with the work when finished. Hope that helps.

TVRBodyshop (Webbs Autos) did a superb job of rebuilding the back of my wedge when I was rear ended a few years ago.

Many thanks boys. I'll be on the phone tomorrow to get some more info. I still feel a bit sick/numb. I truly love this car, It was spot on. Had some red wine now so feel a bit better. The damage is confined to in front of the front wheels so I'm hoping it's just a nose job.

You just could'nt resist blipping that throttle to get the arse out on the exit of that roundabout i guess!

Why not speak to Ron @ Fforest in the Bont mate,he is the man for TVR's locally and considering they do headlight conversions on later models I can only imagine he would sort it for you?

Don't know how bad the damage is or what model wedge you have but if its any use, I have a complete '89 350i front end which could be grafted on if you need it...

l33, does this car have power steering and if it does would you be prepared to sell the linkage & UJ's from the bottom of the column (at the bulckhead) to the rack? Cheers Steve

It did but all bent and knackered - All I saved from the steering was the steering column and cowling bits (ford)

I did post asking if anyone wanted the remains, nobody responded so it was scrapped on Tuesday. Shame, rear diff, fuel tank, brake callipers, fuel pump, and various other bits all looked fine I didn't have the time to remove. Such is life....

But sudden that. Wish I'd known. I suppose the number plate has gone back to DVLA then as you can't put it on retention unless the car was MOT'd?

Anyway, its gone in to Webbs in Bristol, about 5 bags of sand, touch and go as to whether they’ll write it off. The car's as straight as a dye, just needs a new nose section. Is this about right?

Depends on the cost of repair. I think the official line is where the cost of repair exceeds 2/3 the value of the car, then it is a write off. In this case, you could let them write it off, have the insurance payout and purchase the wedge back from the insurance company for usually about £50 (I kid you not).
Just a thought...

But if they do write it off I think you will be able to purchase it back from the insurance co and put it back on the road yourself!!
