I posted this in 'bodywork' a week ago but no replies, can anyone on here help me.
Its ten years since my car was painted, it has now picked up a couple of small marks/stone chips, when it was painted I was given the following info about the paint used.

Fiat Plata Silver P422-0977
1 Lt Mix
986-586.3 (2K system)
982-588.3 (2K system)
938-637.3 (2K system)
528-980.5 (2K system)
I'm thinking of taking a look at a 'ChipsAway' type system, as the damage really is VERY minor and dosen't really warrant re-painting. Does the above mean anything? I understand the P422-0977 is the paint code, but can't find anything for it on Google and the latter four sets of numbers, well there chineese to me!

All the numbers are the codes on HOW the paint is mixed to give the exact shade.
I notice these are all 2k (2 pack) paint which consists of a basecoat followed by lacquer.
If chips away spray the damage, they only use cellulose so the quality of the paint won't be as good as 2k. Don't get me wrong, I have used simular companies to chips away in the past and (depending on WHO does the repair and how good they are) the standard of repair is excellent and cost is minimal.

I don't think that two-pack implies base coat plus laquer.
Two pack is a paint that consists of two parts, the main part and the hardener, you mix them together before spraying and they set. Cellulose paint dries in air.
Two pack paints are sometimes called epoxy (that is the process they use).
You would use base cote and laquer for a metallic finsis but this can be done with cellulose as well as two-pack.
