Reverse light switch

Finally found all of the wires which had been disconnected from the gearbox. Now I know why they were as they were (I think that makes sense!)

The reverse lights stay on whenever the ignition is on. I have checked my wiring and belive it to be correct.

Does any one know the part number for a new switch and where to get one?

Also any idea how to get the old one out?

I am attacking it from underneath due to the lack of access from the top, and can't actually see it, so fumbling in the dark and regularly burning myself with the lead lamp.

the switch can be adjusted by gradually unscrewing from the box.

Does that adjust whether it stays on or not?? It feels loose as if the plastic has broken off from the thread. Can it be reached from the top or would that involve making more holes in the bulkhead.

Take out the centre console/armrest and remover the gear lever surround and rubber giter. You should then have enough room to loosen the lock-nut and wind out the switch until the light goes out.
Unless it's like mine and totally buggered, then you take it out and leave it on the work bench to change "later"

Sorry Mate I did notice your lights weren't workin when we went for Brekkie. If you watch the vid on my site, I do actually mention it.

cheers though I will get at it tomorrow as it is an MOT job. fingers crossed cos it runs out at the end of the week.

Really, Reverse lights aren't part of it!!!!

Am I happy or sad? Happy I think! Sad that I have been sweating it out under the car all day for no reason. Happy that tomorrow I don't have to bother....

What about the front Fog Lights??
