Sholy hit! I just worked out... I got through £96 at the weekend, at 96p a litre that's almost exactly 20 gallons. I covered 438 miles and there's a bit left in the tank.
On that basis that's 21.5 mpg, positively economical!

Maybe I need some fatter injectors and a rising-rate electric dump-charger or something...

£110 for 525 miles but i took it alot and i mean ALOT easier on the way back

Mine is very economical at the moment: zero, zilts, nothing, in 2006. As I can't drive it. Start it up from time to time, but prefer to burn some fuel and money. Ian, not too bad as I have never been that economical with my 350i. So perhaps the message is the badder the wedge the more economical? (don't think so).

I spoke to one of the previous owners of my car who ran it as his company transport for 5 years (so he had all the receipts - all £13,000 of them ). He was absolutely certain that this car was more economical when cruising at 100 than it was at 80, as he did many miles on the motorways in it (it has 113,000 miles on it now, what's that, 170,000km?).

I just kept shovelling fuel in, but I think about a hundred quids worth for the same sort of distance as yourself (except I also went to Long Marston dragraces).

Coming back we turned off at Leicester Forest onto the A46 though ... just couldn't take anymore mind-numbing M1, and one or two nice overtakes to liven things up a bit.

That is about the same mileage on our cars then, 170.000km! I only put 20 odd thousend km on.
And by the way: more compression means better fuel efficiency (take this from an automotive engineer), but.... there are some other parameters as well.

You are driving like a girl sir.
Mind you, my fuel gauge stopped working en route to bbwf as did my power steering so god knows what mine drank.
