New wedge owner

After looking at a few Wedges I finally found one that I wanted to buy and collected it on Sunday ... a C plate 350i in red (via pistonheads classifieds).... needs a bit of work doing here and there, but negotiated an appropriate discount .

Made it all the way home (150miles) without any probs.


I'm sure I will have lots more questions, but the car has always been run with 4 star/LRP ... can I just switch to superunleaded without making any changes or using additive?

Might just need to shift the ignition advance a bit to compensate... but the RV8 is a very tolerant lump anyway.... and they're all different, so experiment to see what's best for yours.

Was it the one that Jerry was selling in Essex by anychance?

And if so did you manage to get the bonnet open!

All injection RV8 lumps have hardened valve seats and will run ordinary cooking unleaded just fine if the ignition timing is set appropriately. You may get a small performance/idling improvement by using super unleaded if you are running a particularly high compression/lumpy cam but there is no need to use LRP/4* or any additives.

No. It was the recent one in Newhaven, Sussex.... C706FON
It needs tlc in places (having the outriggers replaced next week and chassis waxed) but I managed to negotiate these things off the price - and its all part of the fun. Hoping to get the original seats retrimmed soon, and I'll do the hood at some time - not that I'll probably ever use it .

Thanks for the info, I think I will just try the ordinary cooking stuff and see what happens.

I love wedgedom already, I haven't switched the stereo on yet ... it's that unbeatable exhaust burble ...

Yep, that's right - Russ is his name, and he is a good bloke ... came and picked me up from the station in Brighton, got the car reMOT'd without me asking, so no complaints at all.

Bought himself an M3 cabrio, hence the change.
