Steering Column and BBWF

First, I would like to say what a great Fest it was with a great bunch of people. Over the years I've been part of quite a few Car clubs and probably more Motorcycle owners groups, but none as friendly as this!
A big thanks to all the organisers and participants as it takes both to make it a good event.
How the hell did Wedg1e get a picture of me through his rear view mirror!

When I got back up North, the steering locking mechanism for the up and downy bit seems to have worn out meaning the steering wheel has a life of it's own and the garage say it really needs replacing.
Can anyone let me know what the original column is off - its a 1990 400SE and where is the best place to try.

Hi Richard

When I got my Wedge (the Dark Brown 350i at BBWF 2006)
it had the same symptoms but my mechanic easily fixed it
just with a new plastic washer IIRC - ie very cheap fix
and is still OK todate

I think there were 3 columns used, TR7, Rover SD1 and Ford Granada. I suspect on your car it will be the Granada one.

If it is the short stubby controls for the indicators, lights etc it will be the Granada one, but if longer stalks then probably the Rover /TR7 one

It should be a Granada one as mine was also a 1990. Now the bad news, parts of the adjuster are no longer available from Ford !!
I had the same problem with mine and ended up searching the scrap yards for the right part. Good luck !!
