Anyone on the Wedge forum moved house recently.

Just wondering as could be doing this soon, and just gettin quotes.

Last time I sold I'm sure it was @ £300 but now the first quote I got was £700 + @£400 for all the searches etc

I think I was a yorkshire man previously, as it seems a bit excessive to me.

"The average for conveyancing is usually from £450 upwards depending on what price you will be selling and purchasing for and they will charge extra if mortgages are involved. The average fee for searches is £250-£295 so £400 sounds a little exessive to me so I would deffinately question that one.
Ideally you do want to go with a fix fee conveyancer though as I'm sure your aware."

When I moved 3 years ago, the fees were. The ones without a cost were ones that other solicitors had put a fee against, and of course you need to add stamp duty.

The most expensive quote I got was £700 more! So it worth checking around.
