Ignition Amplifier

[TVR 3X]

I have picked up an Ignition Amplifier - the unit that fixes to the side of the dissy. Unknown provenance.

It looks identical to the one on the wedge but I can't see the markings on the one on the car.

Can anybody with one off the car at the moment check the numbers.

Mine has a Lucas symbol on it and the words 9 EM IGNITION MODULE then heat stamped in 84567A and 5085.

The Wedge bible says Lucas DAB135.

The intermotor module tester manual quotes different part numbers. Intermotor #15420 replaces lucas dab119,dab120,dab212,84567, rover # bau5100, bau5538. As is so often the case with that technically simplistic bible, not all module numbers are shown as equivalents. The numbers you quote are correct for the sd1 rover (if the sd1 owners site is correct?) so if it looks identical then it most probably is.

Mine's labelled 84453A/ Intermotor 15420.
I have a spare with a different number (I think the same as you quote) that also works fine. The 84453A is Lucas' part number; on yours the '5085' probably indicates Week 50, 1985 as date of manufacture.
The same amp was also used on various other BL cars with fewer than 8 cylinders.

So yes, if it looks right it probably is

If it is an Intermotor part.... best use it as a paper weight. My experience of these is that they are not up for the job and simply die very quickly.
