What clutch for a 400?

Need a new clutch for the 400se as it started slipping at 150+bhp during a RR session. Previous posts suggest a Borg & Beck but I am told by my local motor factor that B&B no longer make clutches after being bought out six months ago. TVRcarparts list a clutch at £88 and Austec would sell an AJP clutch for £350, quotes for a fitted clutch have varied between £540 and £1000+

Any suggestions for make and supplier? The car gets track day use so something of reasonable quality is needed I think.

not sure but think mine was a b&b, had no problems so far, as for fitting costs,no idea as i did it myself. not as bad a job as you first think plus you can clean and paint every thing as you go along

I have been told that there may be old stock of the b&b still available and it would be an idea to check around suppliers.

Any suggestions other than B&B?

I've got to replace the clutch in my car this Autumn and was going to ring Richard Thorpe at RT for some advice. Got to call in at JEMS at Daventry on Monday and will ask Johns advice on what to fit. Will let you know when I get a sensible answer!

Just fit a std SD1 item from your local partsco, its all I ever had on mine and it never gave any problems even with 280ft/lb

Certainly sounds a lot cheaper than the £350 I have been quoted for a high performance one.
