Petrol leak

Hello everyone, well I became the owner of my first TVR this weekend. I promptly filled her up for a weekend of fun but when I stopped there was petrol pouring out the back. it appears to be from an overflow pipe exiting from behind the left rear wheel. Is this a breather as I cant trace it anywhere, should there be a none return valve, or should I just be aware of the car in front throwing their stubs out of the window!

Mine did exactly the same thing when the passenger side was sitting higher than the driver's side. It only did it when the tank was very full. My garage removed and refitted the various pipes, and it never did it again.

Assuming this is the same as mine… which is a bit of a leap of faith considering the manufacturer and vintage… Single filler on right hand side has a small (5mm-ish) pipe connected to the filler neck that runs into the boot, up and over and down (behind the trim) to exit through the floor near the bumper on the left hand side. Hope that helps.

had the same problem with mine when I filled it right up, I believe it is an expansion over flow pipe, only fill it up till the first click!!!

Exactly the same thing happened to me too last week. parked it on a slope and I had filled it right up and left side was higher than the right. i havent touched or removed any pipes though!

Yep, same thing happened to me.

Filled my 400 up before putting it in the garage. A couple of days later, took it out of the garage to clean the interior. It was standing in the sun for a couple of hours, noticed petrol weeping from the petrol cap and down the side of the car. Then noticed a patch at the back end nearside. Put it down to expansion in the tank (Note to ones self - Only fill the car up when I'm going out!)

Bought a new filler cap from TVR carparts, haven't filled it up before putting it away. No problems since.

Well im joining the 'me too' club here! Filled mine up to the brim, and i mean fill 'click.....wait fill 'click'...wait so both tanks were full for a long journey! She was fine except when i drove down the road and parked on a slope...

Never done it before or since though....

Been there, done that, but the "T" was sold out

If I stop filling at the first click the range is severely limited. A minimum extra 10 litres goes in every time, with a bit of patience. Squirt click, count to ten, squirt click …

Just need to be careful not to park it on a slope till it's done ten miles or so.

Hi Clive

Mine done the same about 3 weeks ago. Thought fuel tank was pressurizing.Checked cap and breather hole was blocked.Mine was parked with the passenger side higher than drivers side as well and just filled up with fuel.
