Mechanical or Electronic fuel injection ?

Can anyone help ?
What are the distinguishing features of electronic fuel injection on a 1984 Tas 280i ? If of course it is electronic

I need to know so that I dont get the wrong head gaskets.
I have got a 2.8i Capri Haynes manual but it does'nt mention types... ( or is it me being dimm )

CIS on a 280i
The fuel pressure is regulated mechanically. Airflow and temp (WUR)
with input from 02 sensor via a frequency valve.

Good info on porsche sites re CIS (73 onwards until motronic). There are a couple of differences The P car has an AAR and an AAD the 280 just has one. Actual fuel pressures will differ but the operation is the same. Pelican parts is a good site.

Mechanical FI has a hexagonal metal lump with fuel pipes coming out of it, Electronic has a flapper air flow meter and an electric fuel injector by each cylinder.

the k-jetronic from Bosch, fitted on ALL 280i, is a mechanical fuel injection. the only electronic part is a small silver box...and this is more or less the electronics for the ignition.
