Magnecor spark plug leads

Is there any performance benefit in having Magnecor spark plug leads? If not, what, if any, benefits do they offer?

Plug leads don't make any difference to the performance, until they go wrong. The engine bay is a very hot dirty environment and leads tend to break down after a while. Magnecor leads reputedly last a lot longer than standard leads.

Total agreement with GreenV8S.......

I fitted a set to my wedge, very pleased with the product, recommended them to my brother for his Griff, as the set he bought from a TVR agent were 5hit, transformed the car smoother running better responce......

I have a set of Moroso, does what it says on the tin. Bit cheaper I think and you have to make them up yourselves.

Binned my magnacor leads as about half failed inless than 2 years, now using 10 mm race leads, let you know in 2 years time if any good

Fitted magnecour leads to my 400se recently as the ones on it looked original.Couldn't say what difference if any as i fitted a closed cda induction kit at the same time.

Not sure they're any beter tan any other quality brand, and as for the "guarantee"......

I've had two separate leads break, tried to claim replacements, and ended up having to pay for them, as I was more or less accused of mishandling them. Just to avoid confusion, they were sourced direct from the manufacturer. Whenever the next one goes, I'll junk the lot and go for Moroso.

I hate these so-called "guarantees". Had a lifetime warranty on a Le Creuset casserole dish, which cracked and split. Of course the claim was rejected, because they reckoned we had put it hot into water.

How can you mishandle an ignition lead - take the dog for a walk with it???

Hot potato mate. If just one experienced person critisises them to much threats of legal action are made. For that reason alone I'll be going the Moroso route

Plug leads just deliver a spark. So there's absolutely no performance gain if changing to magnecors unless you had a fault in the first place. So long as you get the spark any lead will do. Some leads may last longer then others but who really knows which ones are best. Moroso must sell huge volumes being a US company so they're the daddy until the yanks start fitting magnecors.

I need some V8. Do you stock different lengths and 90 degree plug caps? Hard caps would be even better as I'm right up close to the underside of what's going to be a glowing manifold.

Yes you can get 90's all different lengths colours and either 8 or 11mm cheers

Hi Mike

In defence of Magnecor (who i've dealt with for 8 years so forgive me for being a little biased)the are no more likely to take legal action than any other manufacturer.

They are very big in the states, 20 years competition and road.

I don't deal with Moroso but i'm sure they are good to.

Try phoning them, it's easy. Somebody always picks up the phone, emails tend to get a bit overwhelming when you get a hundred or more every day.

I once did a set of leads myself. Might be useful if you get one broken one, you can usually buy spark plug wire by the metre from motorcycle dealers. Usually you can re-use the ends, just wire brush them to clean them up a bit.
