Considering selling the 400se.....

Hi All,

That time, which i have been dreading since the day i bought her, has potentially come. Sadly a lot sooner than i had originally intended/hoped, i am thinking of testing the water to see any interest in my baby.

As all regulars on here will know, ive done lots of work to her and spent many enjoyable times in the sun with her.

General spec as follows:

1989 registered (F Reg)
62000 miles
Audi Ozeanic Blue
Full Mushroom leather in VGC with blue piping and carpet
4 months tax/MOT but new one can be arranged for sale
History of MOT's and reciepts of all work done since i have had the car and various reciepts previous to my ownership
Photos and plenty more info on request...

All in all, a great car. TOTALLY reliable and everything works as it should, except the electric wing mirrors!

Chassis undersealed 2 weeks ago and is 100% solid-No rot whatsoever

As i have said, its a first thought but will be looking for offers in the region of £6500

...undersealed? eventually with some black, sticky kind of paint or waxoyl? OMG.....from a good Wedge, whatever the year of construction is, i expect an original factory-powder-coated chassis, with non-welded outtriggers...all others are a WASTE OF TIME and a TOTALLY WASTE of MONEY!!!!

I also expect a 17 year old car with no treatment to be a bundle of trouble! Depends how you look at these things!

Indeed i have undersealed the chassis as a treatment which these cars need! My car has had no welding at all. The cars free if you can get a screwdriver through any part of the chassis! (Ive checked every inch!)

Anyhow, as ive said, its only a first thought and i really dont want to sell but circimstances may change and i might have nowhere to put her which is the biggest problem...

Thanks all for your comments....i think i may decide to keep her...spent the whole day on tuesday with her out on the road (i love days off!) and i am too attached...

Ive just got to find her a home for winter as on the drive with a cover isnt good enough....

Loads of options, just don't sell. You will be soooo sorry come the spring. You will be turning up at meets to thumb a lift!

Find a car-freak close by with a large shed. I'm trying that as well, but end up building my own garage. Wedge is living outside since 2002 (garage was about to collapse!) and all it needs is a polish and it looks like new. No issues beside water in the footwells (and discovered why it has holes in the floor....). A decent car-cover will do the trick to protect it for the time (short or long) being.

Indeed! That would be quite a sight! Two identical wedges together! Seven eh? That sounds like fun! I really do fancy one one day...needs a V8 of course though!

Ive got a decent cover on her, thick cotton inside fully waterproof job so she stays totally dry but i worry about the damp! Want to keep her lovely! im the kind of person who uses the car and doesnt just sit there polishing but still want her to turn heads for the right reasons!

How about trying a posting on General gassing?

Take my neighbour for instance she has a double garage with only one car in it
and an empty coach house that would take 2 or 3 cars.

I would recommend her, but she doesn't seem to like Wedges, I can't think why!!

It's all right guys. I see on another post that Matt-Man has woken up & is keeping the Wedge.

This is true Hormone! At least for the time being, the wedge is attached to me too much to go! Whoever buys her will get a Gem, but i dont think im anywhere near finished in the land of wedgedom!

I just hope insurance is cheaper next year, i CANNOT afford another £1200 premium!
