Outside Wedge car covers ..

Due to another project (New engine for daughters Fiesta)I need to park the pride and joy outside for a few weeks. Clearly I need a tailored and waterproof and preferably "breathable" cover, but which are the best covers in peoples opinion ??

Hello Jack. I live in the North East and for what its worth I bought a Throughbred cover, (they are based in Leeds), for my wedge 390 about, 6 months ago. I needed to rebuild part of my garage due to subsidence and the insurance company where paying for the cover. I needed to protect my car from the elements and the dust and general shite that a construction of this nature throws up. Throughbred recommended their inside cover. They made the cover from their patterns specially and it took longer than they intially advised. It includes extra material for the top boot spolier and ears for the wing mirrors. In addition I specified the additional straps which tie under the car and these have proved absotutely essential when it gets windy. I thought the cover was fairly expensive, and to be honest when it arrived and I had unpacked it I was disappointed. The material appears to be just like a vileda polishing cloth. I put it on the car and it fitted where it touched, but I needed it as the builders where due the next week and I was stuck. The following week I pulled slightly to try to get the wing mirrors in the ears properly and a seam ripped slightly.

Its done the job though and kept the elements at bay. My advise is to get samples of the cover(s) and you can decide to proceed or not.

I kept my Tiv outside for while with a cover like described above.
It flapped slightly in strong winds and after a few winter months it scuffed the paintwork badly enough to easily show because it had only scuffed small patches.
Luckily - this was pre-rebuild and it a got a full respray as part of the work otherwise it would have been really upsetting.

I'd recommend a Levens Technology hood. It only covers the hood of the car; i.e. all the areas that leak and it is easy to fit. It's also made of really heavy material so it can't flap.

I don't have one myself as my Wedge is now garaged, but I've never heard anything but praise from those that do use them.

Not used the SEAC much over the summer
Has one new trait; when it was in for it's service Richard played with the camber on the front and it's now ultra twitchy. Can't even look at the stereo long enough to find the on button never mind hear it over the exhaust - LOL Gonna have to get it put back the way it was next time it's being fettled.

Ive got a heavy duty cover, which is soft on the inside and rubbery on the outside! so doesnt flap! so far so good....
