Hi everyone well I finally did it I bought my dream car a 400 se from a really nice guy in Scotland sadly with an expired gearbox but never the less she will be fixed I felt sorry for the guy really he had just spent a grand having it serviced and new clutch and 30 miles on his way home the gearbox expired the garage didnt want to know they said they didnt touch the box they took the engine out so bad luck basically so he obviously wasnt amused and after 10 years of his ownership he decided to give her up and buy a scoobiedoo type 22 which he blew the engine on I could see the tears welling by this time and didnt have the heart to ask how much but it must have been a klondike anyway I will probably need your expert advice guys with my new baby I will look forward to talking to you all Best Regards Mark.

Glad you got sorted Mark. I wasn't sure if you'd got it after our conversation because when I checked the classifieds a few days ago, the car was still on.
Let us know how you're getting on with a replacement gearbox; there are many, many experts here.

Mine came from Scotland as well. I bought it off a guy in Fife 2 1/2 years ago. I clocked up 800 miles driving it back home via the scenic route!

Don't worry Mark. I waited 2 years for my Vixen to be built - it was really painful. She's been on the road since May this year and we bought a lovely 400SE to keep her company 2 weeks ago but the weather's s..t at the mo so can't drive him in any case. I don't think many of us will get much use out of our cars between now and next Spring - if that's any comfort.

There used to be a gold 400SE owned by John Beveridge around East Kilbride, anyone know if he still has it/ is it still around? Gold can't be a common colour for 400SEs...

Hi Ian I notice your a fellow Teessider and no I cant say that I have ever seen a gold one mines yellow and came from Dundee but originally came from Harrogate.

Ian,you ever seen a brown /gold wedge,think it's a 350

If the problem is with the input shaft to the gearbox then it may have been the clutch change that caused the problem.
