you can get a switch that fits into the cooling fins of the ran and is fully ajustebale with a 30amp relay from kenlow fans its the solid state one
it dosnot have the copper pipe tipe one and is a lot neater

It looks as if the otter switch has gone. Could I attach a manual switch on to the otter switch wires and mount it in the interior somewhere discrete for now?

Yes you can (as previously said that you need to switch earth - or as you have planned it). You just need to check when you have in stalled the switch that with the ignition on (not necessarily engine running, but I would test both situations) that the fans come on. So you can do it by trail and error if you want to....

Brief foray home before the orfski on me travels again. My otter is up for grabs if you want to try it but sure you can get them from a serc etc?. Have to find it in the other bits but foc, I assume it is still working. Not sure the seal is any good though.

As said on the switch before by others, wot I did one weekend. two wires to the "make" switch with piggy back lucars. Lopped a bit of alloy to shape and fitted next to the bonnet release.
