About £50 in gaskets and £30 for the bolts - give V8 developments a call.

Your also need a vally gasket and end rubbers, as well as the head gaskets.
And why your at it you may want to get some rubber rocker cover gaskets.
And some HYLOMAR UNIVERSAL BLUE GASKET for the plemum.

Your need to take the Exhorst manafolds off, so you may want to re-new the gaskets for that, plus some gasket paste for the ring join from the manafolds to the main exhorst.

You may also want to re-new the thermostat, while its apart.

Rimmer brothers also will do all the parts you need so you may want to compair prices.

Good luck.

I found composite gaskets are very good and resistant to corrosion. Only downside is a small drop in compression ratio.

Sorry to hear about the gasket Rob. Nice to hook up with you & Dixie. If you need to use my bonnet next time just give me a shout wink

I dunnow what happened with the wheels, I think it was a combination of me hesitating and the time going so quickly.

Good luck with the repair thumbup

There's a lady on Ebay who does a roaring trade in V8 gaskets at sensible prices... I've used them on my car and they seem fine.

Echo what a (now presumably sober wink) Adam Q says about the composite head gaskets; mine have done 12K (in 5 years) so far without issue.

Depends on if you have the tin or the copper ring gasket, as the copper ring is thinker.
Copper ring 55 tho
Comp. 40 thou
tin 25 tho.

The gasket that joins them both together is the vally gasket, this has to come off before you can remove the heads. you'r have to remove all the inducduction, trumpet base, and inlet manafold, to get at this.

I ment that it looks like quite a few gaskets have to be changed when originally only one seemed to be leaking .

I AM TAKEN ADVICE FROM EARLIER POSTS TO THIS TOPIC AND GOING TO GET THE RELAVNT GASKETS AND BITS FROM EITHER V8 OR RIMMERS DEPENDING ON PRICE SO I AM PROBABLY LOOKING AT AROUND ABOUT £100 FOR BITS. I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH A LOCAL GARAGE WHO ALWAYS LOOKS AFTER THE WEDGE AND THEY HAVE QUOTED ME £300 TO CARRY OUT THE WORK IS THIS ABOUT RIGHT FOR THE WORK TO BE CARRIED OUT.

HI Rob.

Sorry to hear about the problem. I had to replace mine the end of last year - got them from
http://www.gasketsforclassics.co.uk/..... they might do a good deal.

Hope you get it sorted and back on the road.

Good to meet you on Sat.

Hmmm... if I charged you that I'd be better-paid than I am now. Shame you're not more local to me, we could have sorted it between us. The RV8 is a nice simple engine, it just tends to give you a bad back to work on one in a Wedge as it's a long way to lean in! With a concerted effort you could do both head gaskets in a (long) day.
