Apologies from ourselves and the Band for not being able to perform for you on saturday Night , as we know the weather killed off and chance of the band playing in those conditions , we were hoping to recreate last years gteat evening but the weathermean got the better of us.
I would also like to apolgise for possible shortage of food on BBQ , we catered for 75 as of details on Friday , however this rose to 95+ on the day....

A note for the Dutchies .... you never came back for the Flag !!!!

I understand from several people that you may be changing venue for BBWF 08 , if so I wish you all the best and hope next years conditions prove more fruitful ..

For those going to Rockingham on saturday , you may see me and Ali there as the TVRCC has asked us to run the Tug-o-War competition.

All the very best and thanks ... was great to meet with you all again , Tallbloke , Wedgie , Leo , mark and Scott proped the bar up well into the wee hours.

cheers beer

Kirk and Ali

It was a top evening in spite of the weather!

Pass our collective regards on to the 21st Bday chap. Last I saw of him he was searching under the pool table for a £1 coin after chundering a yard of ale. Good drinking all the same!

Ive not heard of plans to change venue next year... Anyone??

I thought it worked really well!

Ed.

To be honest I heard a few people discussing it. Last year the BBQ tickets were controlled and verified, and there wasn't a problem, this year there seemed to be no control. Maybe that didn't help? Next time I would suggest having a couple of tear-off stubs on the ticket to control who gets what. Any left-over stuff should be free for all after, say, 9pm?

Too bad with the weather but that's just bad luck, unless it's all under cover there's nothing anyone can do about that. I had a good time in the end, the beer was good quality and good value, so thanks to the White Horse for doing their best!

HI KIRK

GREAT EVENING, YOUR NOT RESPONCIBLE FOR THE WEATHER, THANKS FOR ORGANISING THE LIFT BACK TO THE HOTEL VIA YOUR LOCAL 'PIZZA' SERVICE. THE RIDE WAS 'SHALL I SAY INTERESTING' MOBILE PHONE TO EAR ALL THE WAY STEERING BY KNEES WHILST CHANGING GEAR AND NEVER BELOW WARP SPEED.

GOOD JOB I WAS WELL LUBRICATED.

Didn't get chance to see you Sunday AM... so thanks for squeezing me in at short notice! Next time Scotty gets a sock in his gob to make sure he doesn't keep me awake till 4.45 with his bloody snoring... cursepunchhehe
I think also the first round will be on me next year; I don't recall buying any!
As I said on another thread, Rog and I flashed past a speed camera at 1** on the M**, I'm just waiting for my ban... banghead
The lanky one seemed to survive his early start and was last seen wandering towards a Gothic church in Bridon, with a measured but purposeful gait and a wistful look in his eyes... maybe that was the contents of his tobacco pouch, who can say wink

Roll on next year hehedrinkbeer

Edit: I certainly didn't starve to death, so I didn't see any food issues. Folk should realise that where there's a spread, there's gannets. No good hoping there'll still be some left when you've finished pontificating about your chrome widget or swearing blind that your car had another 100bhp last time you had it on a rolling-road... hehe

Kirk & Ali,

Thanks for posting - it was a great evening that we all really enjoyed ..

OK - the food was a bit short but I guess Weeman must have discussed this with you .. I'm sure he will be along at some point.

I don't think that or the lack of a band spoiled the day.

If we do something else next year, then it will just be because the event is getting a bit staid. We have done the same thing for 4 years now.. We don't normally start kicking the BBWF idea around until December
but if we change - I don't think it will be because of
the BBQ or the rain biggrin

Well I'm glad it only took Wedg1e five minutes to get off to the land of nod.

I could of eaten more but I can honestly say I didn't need to. The food was top notch as was the hospitality and beer.

As has already been said, any discussions about a new venue are purely to keep things fresh. I am >100% happy with staying with EC but can see the point in moving on. A.N.Other venue will have a very high standard to match up to!
If we move on then I'm sure we'll be back another year and may also consider a smaller event (idea SBBWF) so we don't have to start counting down from 300+

The very act of appologising for the rain shows you really care about how your customers feel. Anyway us Wedgers aren't afraid of a bit of wet.

Kirk & Ali, thankyou so much for your endevours. Hope to see you soon.

yeah - next time could you put a large sloping glass cover over the pergola, with a pretend rear-view mirror on it - then we'll all sit in the other half of the garden in the rain, quite happy ;^)

Kirk & Ali,

I don't think apologies are necessary, once more your hospitality was second to none, it was great to see you again and I enjoyed my structural role- i.e. propping up the bar with my one remaining functioning arm. I think everyone will agree the w**ther once more stuffed us rather than anything else!

cheers once again! Scott

Many apologies for the sleep deprivation Wedg1e the unfortunate thing about snoring is you don't realise your doing it! I would have gladly rolled over and shut up if I'd known! idea

Sorry to hear about the unwanted camera attention frown

With reference to our 'mate' lankenstein:

"The lanky one seemed to survive his early start and was last seen wandering towards a Gothic church in Bridon, with a measured but purposeful gait and a wistful look in his eyes... maybe that was the contents of his tobacco pouch, who can say"

The 'wistful' look in his eye was maybe something to do more with the contents of his wallet; borrowing £60 from me at breakfast then 'forgetting' to pay his half of the room leaving me with not enough cash to pay for the whole room, cheers Tallbloke 'mate' despite promising a swift refund through Paypal nothing has appeared yet! curse

Scott: Rog is probably still in the land of snails and frog's legs... and watch that Paypal; he'll pay you in dollars, they'll convert it to Sterling, then you pay an admin fee. You'll be lucky if you get £55 back. Ask me how I know... wink
