Don't you have a local metal store?
For example mine is here:
http://www.mackay.co.uk/webstore/acatalog/Aluminiu...SectionsTube_and_Mouldings1.html
and they are open on Saturday mornings.

Adam, Don't know of any localy, only one I know is order only, and the smallest size they do is 2m x 3m
Im passing though Cambridge tomorrow, so will pop into Mackay's and see what they have,
Thanks Rev, but I realy want 2mm. that company never came up when I did a search.
O I'm building a Oil cooler bracket. that that will come round the front of the rad and attach with the fan bolts.
Leigh.

It would be Rev - if they did gold sheet ;^) Sadly they only do Aly, steel, and brass. Maybe a bit of copper too.
Incidentally, did you know that Aluminium used to cost more than Gold, only a few hundred years ago?
Yeah, Leigh, they will cut the sheet into the dimensions you need at no extra cost, as long as each piece is rectangular. So you can get it all in your boot no probs. The metal store closes at 12:00 on Saturday. There is a car park round the back so you don't even have to shell out Cambridge's extortionate parking fees.

I can imagine ..
Don't think this process has been around for that long ..
Extraction of Aluminium.
Aluminium ore is called bauxite.
Bauxite contains aluminium oxide, water, iron oxide and other impurities.
The purified dry ore, called alumina, is aluminium oxide - Al2O3.
The alumina must be molten for electrolysis to work,
since the ions are not free to move in the solid state.
Unfortunately, alumina has a high melting point (2040 °C)
and it is not practical to do electrolysis at such a high temperature.
In the middle of the nineteenth century
it was found that alumina dissolved in cryolite.
Cryolite is sodium aluminium fluoride - Na3AlF6.
A solution of alumina in cryolite melts at about 900 °C
and electrolysis is done at about 950 °C
