Sorry to burst your bubble, but this was allready known.

Well by everyone except Tower View, as they don't put them in the Ali ones.

Bubble intact - no issues taken.

I thought it interesting to actually see it, as I never got pictures when I asked the forum previously. Also, there appeared to be some question as to the "corseness" of the filter. Obviously it's not the gross screen I thought it was. TVR was adequately protecting the pump, but stupidly burying a filter that could easily become clogged. I will make another end and weld it on without the internal filter - it's a cleanable external one for me!

It is now obvious why these filters come off and start rattling around. The mounting nipple has a slight taper and without something to limit the verticle upward movement of the filter, when vibrated it will creep upwards and off of the nipple.

I didn't know that. We are talking about the swirl pot, not the fuel filter aren't we?

Do all the original swirl pots have filters, whether connected or not?

I had a rattle in my swirl pot, once cut in half to see what was going on the filter was intact but there were a few large lumps of solder presumably from the fuel tanks! New alloy pot and an external filter did the job.

Very good point.

When your car no longer runs and you have bits in your hands that make funny noises.... inquiring minds want to know. Things also get very quiet - unless you still have that stereo on...

Seriously, I tore it apart cause I was concerned that the rattly bit could interrupt flow. Also was concerned that what was rattling would cause further bits to get into the pump.

When the engine cuts out at speed, but it was my two brain cells banging together making up horror stories.

So, were all swirl pots fitted with a filter or a later mod? Can the existing filter be fitted twice (that is two of the same) be used? AM400, I know you have posted a pic before, where from was the filter you fitted? will have a shufty back in the archive

Edited to add, found it.

Jeff, see you found what you needed.

My swirl pot was rusting through, hence the cutting it in half to see what was involved when having a new one made. It wasn't until I took it off that I thought I had discovered a new type of Maracas!

Well I have 2 metal swirl pots with holes, one orignal 1989 and one re-fitteded 1999 both have filters. both loose lol.

Can you post the link to AM400 filter. as looks like im going to need one, as the Ali one I got from TowerView does not have one.

Don't want to run the car too much with out. even tho the one that came out, had a few holes in.

Thanks
Leigh

see http://www.fuelsystem.co.uk/filters.pdf
for supply and price.

IIRC you need the 12mm one in/out. I'd also get the optional metal filter.
