Sorry to crash your Section (I am a Griff owner) but just wanted to share this with you.
I have made a socket that fits the 12 point bolts that are in the OZ Split-Rim Alloy wheels. My dad wanted one to strip the bolts out of his alloys, so being a good son i made him one (perks of my job wink)but i have also made some spares so if it's of interest to you then they are in the classified sections with some other bits i have made. If no then i'm sorry to waste your time.

I want one!
Only I can't find them on the classifides...

Just one thing I'm not sure on is I thought (and I could be wrong) that the OZ bolts on my wedge are 10 point and not 12...

Hallo,

Yes LS 33 you are right. The OZ ones are 10 pointed and the inner and outer size are different also.

Im having the same issues, and may well drill them out, as I have had plenty of practise and am quite good at it (and modest...).

OZ Racing are a bunch of gits for doing this, and on that basis, I will never buy any wheels from them ever.

Purely done to be awkward IMHO. BBS dont tend to do this.

P.S. I have replacement bi-hex M7*24 chrome plated HT bolts and nuts to replace.

Combine, havent done it yet, but am going to unless I buy a set of those sockets...

The bolt heads are dimpled to allow a drillbit to sit in there without wandering. Even on wheels that dont have the dimple, a properly sharpened dot-punch, hit nice and square on the middle of the head will do it. I acknowledge that they are probably either 8.8 or 10.9 tensile, but with the tip of the drill properly lubricated, slower drill speeds so as not to exceed the red-hardness of the HSS bit and a few spare bits(!!!), its doable.

It will require a 6m bit, drilled about 8mm deep to remove the head of the bolt, or at least to severely neck it so it'll knock off with a careful tap. Last thing is to put a dotpunch into whats left of the bolt shank and give it a good crack with a hammer.

IMHO, this should not damage the rim surface.

It will take me a long time though.

I should add that you do, of course, need to fit replacement fasteners, cos the old ones will be, well, drilled. Theres a bloke on ebay called Boraboy_115 who sells them by the 120-lot. £120 for 12 point (woohoo: standard bi-hex sockets for those bad boys, bubba) M7 bolts and matching nuts. Bolts are chrome plated.

Hallo,

I have the proper OZ tools to get the bolts and nuts out and I can supply new nuts and bolts in Stainless. People can use the tools for a small fee for wear and tear when they buy a set of nuts and bolts.
You can contact me through my profile.

I'd be very cautious about using stainless bolts, they're not usually a good idea in highly stressed situations. I know there are quite a few bolts sharing the load, but I think the load per bolt could still be quite high for such little bolts. I wouldn't want to use stainless without seeing the stress calcs.
