Thought you guys might find my present situation a tad amusing

As some of you know I have just "upgraded" to a 400SE
and the drivers window motor needed replacing
1 unit express delivered from Rimmers duly fitted by my mechanic
and seemed to be working well BUT
I have found that when I put the window down, when it reaches about half way
THE DOOR POPS OPEN all by itself !!!!!!
(A little disconcerting doing 70mph down the dual carriageway)

Totally open or totally shut no problem
Have I got a more fancy door opener than a Chimp owner
and I always liked the way the window opens on the Cerb to allow the door to open

Should I keep it like this? NO

I should also state that it was the first time my better half had been in the car when the door flew open eek

Cheers

Rich

Look like when fitting the new motor, he may have bent one of the door opening rods, they are only thins about 3mm, and if bent and bracket that holds the glass is at the same height as the rod, and you go over a pumb, it could cause the door to think you are trying to open it.

I'd take the panel off and just check there is enough clearance from the glass bracket and door opening rod.

Leigh is right. I too have suffered from this ,the links are not the best and any fettling to the door mechanism can result in window/door lock crossover issue. The links are bent to cater for the rising/falling window frame , so stick with it, you will find a happy compromise eventually.sonar

If your taking them apart you may want to at the same time fit an after market remote central locking.

Totally agree..

I think there are 3 rods.. and they need to be pushed home fully..
