I've noticed that the differential between normal and Super unleaded is now 7p/l, and can get as much as 10p/l. I've been using the Castol Valvemaster Plus which seems to work quite well. Advantages are - it only costs 3.3p/l to treat your fuel (if you buy 5 bottles at a time), and you don't have to remember which garages do Super - or have not run out of it! Also, if you get a dicky tank you can add a little extra for some more boost.

Does anyone else use Octane boost, if so, what and how much does it cost?

Adam

I've used Millers Octane Plus in my car since the engine rebuild, as John Eales advised that it needed Higher Octane fuel and I have found it works well.

It's about £4.75 a bottle so it works out just a bit cheaper than I can get V-Power etc.

Talking to MattMan at Wedgefest - he uses some octane boost tables that you simply add to the fuel tank. I don't know much about them but Matt was singing their praises...

Hey lee! Glad someone listens to my wittering on!!!blabla

The link above shows a shop for the products i use! I need to get some more but they really do the trick!

Best thing with them (as well as cost) is that you just chuck one in when you fill, and thats it! No more carrying lots of bottles and them leaking in the boot etc!

You can keep loads in the glove box...unless you keep gloves in it.....hehe

I used Castrol Valve master in the SEAC - used to get really messy as I'm sure the stuff started to melt the funny valve-jobby that you pour the bottle into!! Not sure if it did much but was advised to squirt a bit in after filling with optimax!
Edited to say a mate is now using the stuff in his 4l Griff as he says he gets better flames/pops on the overun!!

DYNOTAB I must go and get some after reading the manufacturers web page sales pitch. 9.2 % increase in acceleration now that's impressive?
Just need to go and find an American car that does 0 to 70 in 17.59 seconds and a supplier of standard 87 octane fuel that when treated will then give the same performance in said machine of 91 octane. It does appear to be perfectly safe as they do say if the dose is increase beyond the recommended amount that no further performance gains maybe seen. They also do another tab that gives you 20% more miles to the gallon.

Interesting.

Dynotab works out at about 2.9p/l

Millers is 7p/l (about the same as buying super in the first place)

So only a possible 3% complete waste of money then, bargain!

Tablets look good, but can you cut them in half as I only put 30 l in at a time frown

Or do I just take the hit and put a whole tablet and dam the expense smile

I was thinking that, I usually put in 40l each time. Then there is how long the tablet takes to dissolve? I'd like to try it in a bottle of fuel to see. It looks promising and potentially less messy though.

The advantage of the castrol thing is that you can squeeze out exactly the right amount to match your fill.
