Hey All,

Decided this morning, after fixing the misfire problem (new HT leads), that i would do an oil change...

Last time i did a change, i put one of those magnetic sump plugs in to see how much crap comes out...

eekLook what came out!!!!!!eek

Any idea what it is???

Engine runs and sounds better than ever before...i have no idea when this 'turned up' in there, although ive done about 7000 miles this year since the last oil change and had no issues...

All help greatly appreciated.....!!!!

Part of a seal (the spring looking thing)?? Spacer washers?? Something gone bad under the front timing chain cover - like disti gear spacers? Something a bit further down, by the oil pump drive? I will look at some of my spare parts when I get to the shop this morning. Does the disti rotor arm have excessive play (must not be mislead by the advance mechanism)?

What's the approx. dimension of the "complete" circular piece (it looks to be around 1 inch)? Is the sectional profile of it round, or does it have a flat surface on either/both sides?

Looks like a piece of oil seal to me. They have a little coil spring wrapped around them to keep the seal lip in contact with the shaft.

Might get me one of those plugs. Never know whats in my engine...

the bits put together make the ring, and are about 1" diam.......it does have a flat side, and a round side...

I think oil seal sounds about right...

so is it a problem??

My guess could be that something broke, was fixed and never take out!!

She runs absolutly fab...
