Bloody bikers...obvious wheel envy!!!

  • *EDITED to add that anyone with a lack of a sense of humour should not click. It would appear some people have taken this as a literal hatrid for bikes which is obviously not the case! Most of my mates have bikes!****

Hmmm, let's see: typical 'fast' motorcycle: £5K. Typical 'fast' car: £50K. Sorry, if you threw enough money at a bike, it'd be faster than the car smile
Besides, in the real world roads are not empty, and if I wanted to get from A to B in a hurry, the bike would be quicker.

The bike should always have the upper hand, did you not see the Fifth gear from about 3 weeks ago, a ducati against the new super gallardo, ducati won on everything against brakes, and always will, maybe biker was just having a snooze if the ultima beat him, bike may lose a bit on bends tho deopending on the riders skills.

Editted to add....Regarding the jealousy thing, IMO it works both ways

Well I've done the power ranger suit thing! and loved every minute of it, getting my knee down and popping wheelies. great thrill, would love to buy one now, but 2 V8's are enough at the moment! (IMWOfrown)

... and the size of their balls.

I can quite often have a biker around some twisty's even in the wedge, but on the straight, I'll leave them to it (unless the bike is as old as my car, in which case I'll try it on, because I know a bike engine will only last 20k miles....)

I am a 'bloody biker' and I can assure you, that I have no wheel envy, least of all Wedge wheel envy.

Before you retort, I should point out that I own / have owned the following:

TVR 390SE
TVR Griff 500
TVR 460SE (modded 400SE with V8 developments 4.6)
Ultima GTR-S (630hp, 6.3l supercharged)
Ultima Can-Am

Yamaha TDM850
Triumph T595
Yamaha R1
Triumph Tiger 1050
Yamaha TDM 900

I also have a few years racing experience (seven style cars).

Cars and bikes both have their merits. The GTR-S was as fast as a superbike, but as said on this thread, cost about £65k more.

Oh god, here we go..sleep... i was mainly refeering to the 'dropped out the 70's' and 'Hideous Kit Car' comments in particular...

I think some people need to remember that these forums are supposed to be fun! If i was sensitive to a jokey comment then i would have sold my car everytime it was called a cheese wedge!

Maybe a little bit more of a sense of humour wouldnt go a miss.... tumbleweed

confused I hear this a lot from people who swear they'd buy a bike otherwise... are people really that incapable of self-control? Throttles work both ways, do you really drive your car with your foot to the floor all the time?

Errr... I didn't take it as a joke or an insult - just posting with my experience of both?

My concern about bikes it the fact that stupid tw*t in a car or truck could touch a biker and you end up a stain on the tarmac... My cousin was hit by a truck and killed some time ago, lorry didn't even notice and didn't stop. Thats what would stop me getting one, and stop my son from getting one.

Stay safe.
