I have a stockpile of plenums, trumpet bases and trumpets, inlet manifolds etc. in case anyone wants some bits to play with. I can mill trumpet bases down if you want to fit an insulator (can make those too!), shorten trumpets etc... could do with shifting some bits as my workshop is awash with alloy! It'd be a shame to weigh it all in, even though the price of metals is through the roof...

I have could do with a milled down trumpet base, with milled out trumpet holes to 40mm.
As I have a insolulator and a 40mm plastic trumpets.
But need a base to fit them on.

Hi Wedg1e, on the subject of Flapper bits, whats the crack with fitting the Jag AFM as opposed to the standard SD1?. I understand they allow more airflow, but from the SEAC's i've seen( which i was told used the Jag item?), they used the standard SD1/Land rover plenum, with the standard throttle butterfly, so why fit the Jag AFM if you can't get anymore air in??
I've got a good condition Jag AFM,but wondered if there's any point fitting it unless the rest of the inlet system/ fuelling is sorted.

From memory, if you measure the cross-sectional area of the SD1/ Rangey throttle bore and the standard airflow meter bore, the throttle is larger (hence the AFM is the restriction).
Also, a lot of the higher-capacity engines had the throttle bored out to take a larger diameter butterfly. My solution (detailed on my website although I never got round to using it) was to modify the plenum to take a larger throttle body.

Hmmm, XJ40 I think. It lacked a bypass to set idle though, I was working on a way to do it.
