I have to get some new pads on the rear. Last time I did this I think I used Girling ones for the Jag, but are there any alternatives that might be better?

Ferodo DS2000 work well for me - not sure if the DS2500 is available in that fitment yet, but if so, I would use that. It also depends on whether the car gets track use - the rears can overheat easily. One other thing to bear in mind is the grip levels of different pads - ideally you wan't to use the same type front and rear, otherwise you can introduce a mismatch, and possible greater tendency to lock the rear, which you definitely don't want. I'll dig out part numbers if needed?

Mintex on mine (1144) and doing fine (survived a trackday, being tought how to drift for a couple of hours and now on the car for over two years with like 4000 miles of regular fast road movement).

So - I decided to get Mintex 1144, but where from? I tried a search on t'internet but all I get are PH articles and EBC suppliers ;^) I'll be getting a set of fronts too - 400SE style, 4 pot calipers, what equivalent make and model is this, Austin Princess perchance?

The rear product code seems to be MGB521M1144 btw. If anyone has the code for the fronts (4-pot) please post it here.

`Morning world,MDB 1171 would be the princess number, the calipers are now back in production,at a price, but it might still be cheaper to get recons and pay the surcharge.Tempus

Hmm - I think MDB1171 are a normal compound, rather than the M1144 compound (see the full stock code for the rears above). Also - they seem to be for Talbot's, but look roughly the right shape.

Right - ACT might have them in stock.

This is the part number for the fronts: MLB52M1144

also found on these cars (so you can expect the princess calipers to be on there too I spose) Morgan 4/4 1.8 ; 01/93>08/98 Plus 8 4.6 ; 01/97>08/98 Plus 4 2.0 ; 01/94>08/98 Plus 8 3.9 ; 01/94>08/98 Princess 1.7, 2.0, 2.2 ; 01/75>12/82 MG MGR V8 (Adder) 3.9 ; 01/92>12/95 Wolseley 22 Series ; 01/75>12/75

Sorry, quite right,I`m using a german cross reference, now mintex are german it`s confusing,i order by generic shape and add m1144 m1155 when needed, having said that i`m still using old friction materials,i`m reserving my judgement on the newer made in china stuff.Tempus
