Sounds a stupid Question.

but I'm looking for a ECU Socket, I have a spare conector. and I want to make a piggy back lead. so I can do some testing. so though the best way would be to just take off an old broken ECU.

Thanks
Leigh

Dam I was going to ask that question as well. Apparently there was a chap in Australia looking into a lucas to 'other' adaptor, but I never found him

As I didn't want to butcher my other ecu's just in case, but wanted to be able to plug back in

But as you said you butcherd an old ecu smile

This site looks good for parts for ecu builds,

trigger-wheels.com

Looking to get the megasquirt to test next week, and run along side the flapper system so I can use it for the data logging at mo.
Just need the trigger wheel, lambda, map point, air temp (using old cold start injector hole hopefully) and temp sensor - was thinking about taking the thermotime sensor out and putting another coolant temp sensor in the hole, as seem to remember they were the same size holes ?

Apparently there's a Jag ECU with the same connector - gives you more donor ECU's to chose from.

One other idea - I have an ECU where I soldered a ribbon cable onto the pins on the inside of the connector, then crimped a 25-way D-type connector onto this, you can then use the ECU as normal, and connect onto the breakout connector for diagnostics.

Hi Paul Im 90% sure the Thermotime is a bigger thread.

You could get an adaptor though

Umm maybe I could use the thermotime then as you should only need the temp for cold startup to enrich the mixture ?

I'll have to have another read

No, the thermotime sensor is more like a switch than a sensor... it controls the firing duration of the cold-start injector depending on whether the engine is already warm or not... so it's effectively 'go/no-go' rather than the variable resistance exhibited by the coolant temp sensor.
You could, as stated, blank off the original temp sensor hole and fit an adapter into the thermotime switch port.
