OK, I am so sorry for going off radar, but I couldn't handle having the car off the road and being in and out of the forum. SO I have denied ownership for the last year to ease the pain of not being able to go for a spin.

Manifolds are on their way thanks to Tim at ACT along with braided hoses for me braking thingys.

Can anyone give me the links to posts aboooot fitting the manifolds. Gonna give it ago but have no idea what I am about to embark on.

I hope to have it back on the road by the end of this month. So would love to go for a hooley with any one in the hants area.

Cheers Mike

My top tip is to get some APR bolts - they have a small 10 mm head size and are MUCH easier to fit to the tricky rear cylinders and the bolts underneath..

I also use one of those small rachet spanner from Halfords .. makes the job really easy.

Real Steel sell 'em for £20. Actually all you need is 4 of these for the rear/underneath bolts, the rest can be normal ones.

There's also an ebay seller selling s/s allen bolt sets for £10, but I don't think they will help with tightening the tricky rear ones necessarily.

so a thought on this (as its on the list of 'things i need to do' this winter, ive taken the bolts out before to change the gaskets on the manifolds, but do they come out of the car without too much grief??

You can do it with the standard bolts, but one on each side underneath only comes out/goes in while the manifold is coming away/being offered up, and a few of the others are quite tight.

I also found ARP bolts here even cheaper: www.part-box.com

100-1111 14.30 + VAT (hex head)
100-1211 14.85 + VAT (12-point head ones)

I have bought the ARP bolts from ACT, I see now that I may have over paid!! Never mind, I got caught up in the excitement.

Will I have to lift the engine out, this is the bit that scares me???

Thanks for the hints guys. Fingers crossed they will arrive in line with my 3 days off work next week.

Oh well, never mind!

If you're just replacing the bolts, no need to move the engine. If removing the manifolds then it helps to slacken off the engine mounts and jack the engine up (use something under the sump to spread the load) just a few inches.

When removing the drivers side I take off the engine mount and the Starter, not sure the manifold will come out with the mount in place, anywaysup its only five pins and it does give a bit more space thumbup

I'm 99% sure I fitted mine, with a starter on, but I did not have the engine mounts bolted up, and had the engine on a trolly jack, so I could move the engine about, abit.

These are cheaper as the 100- series are not stainless, only the 400- series are stainless.

5hrs have passed and I have removed 12 of 16 bolts 8 of my knuckles and 40 of my ciggies.
Please tell me the removal of the exhaust itself is easier than the bolts....please!!!

once you have the bolts out and the engine mount bolts out so you can wiggle the engine about on a jack.

It quite easy to get them in and out.

Go for the hard ones first - underneath and at the back - or else they'll be very hard to remove later! If you haven't don't worry - you can put some of them back in to support the manifolds, it'll make the hard ones easier to remove.
