Be aware thats a 24v clock on ebay (may only need to change it to a 12v bulb but not certain).

Why not take it to bits and look inside?

When my petrol gauge broke I did that, and found one of the terminals wasn't soldered, so over time it tarnished and stopped working.

2 minutes to solder it and all was well again.

It might be the same story.

Just saw on an classic sales website jaguar xj6 ('70-'80), they have a square clock as well. Could perhaps be an 'alternative' to what you are looking for to keep the style.

With my fuel gauge, the front bezel holds the glass in. The bezel is pressed onto the body and that holds the whole thing together. What you have to do is slip a screwdriver underneath wherer it's pressed down, and ease it up a bit. Then work your was around the whole thing, easing it up a bit at a time. After 3 or 4 revolutions, you will have lifted the pressing up to where it can be slid off the body. Then you can access the innards. (I know, I should have taken pics of this!)

When putting it back together, you only need to press it back down in about 5 places, that way it's much easier to reopen if you have to.
