So, yesterday I was standing in WH Smiths in a line with all the other blokes reading the car mags and buying nothing ... (sound familiar ?) anyway.... a Mag called Practical Performance Car looked good. These guys have been seen at goodwood and Lemans in a crappy Roll Royce.... anyway..... As my son (matt-man) has a wedge I always like to see what they say about wedges and values etc............

Crap, rubbish, cheeselike - don't bother!

All other TVS were listed as great stuff!

Now I think thats a bit harsh... I am a great supporter of the wedges.. and I know you guys are. I am still amazed that the Tasmin seems to have been written out of most car history books. You have a great following (BBW fests were great for example) and (apart from being a pig to work on) they do have a certain charm.

SO ! Whos going to write to them and sort it! They are asking for "readers cars" articals... so do one about the wedges in general and put them right!

the commentvhas been discussed before in the magazine, and it refers to the early 280 tasmins not the 350/390/400 wedges, i find it an excellent read otherwise though

I bought this comic for the first time yesterday and saw the comment and it it is referring to the early 280 cos they haven't noticed what followed.

Yes I have a 280 a FHC at that and as standard it's not in the same league as the rest but it's fun and I like it and it can be improved however I doubt if I will buy the mag again as it's a bit Max Power and I don't suppose it will be improved. So I will have to remember to take my glasses next time I go to WH Smith

For a more balanced view read this

"the most thoroughly sorted and best-built TVRs ever" it says. I would like to believe it.

Hey dad, thats unlike you to spend hours reading mags and not buying one!!hehe

I hate the way that magazines ignore the wedge....maybe we should organise a meetup with a load of wedges to prove how cool they are!!

Crap and rubbish....bit harsh....cheezelike...well true!!!!

Its been like that since they started running that "article" back in June 2007.
Why not invite them along to a gathering, perhaps the BBWF2008, let them see the cars, let them drive the cars, then they could do an article about wedgies.
Im sure they wouldnt turn down a chance to drive a British sportscar with a thumping big v8 in it powering the correct wheels!!!

A Mr.Angry letter woudn't be a wise move surely ... you['re just going to alienate them .. the suggestion of geting them along to the wedge gathering is a good one, or why not drive your car over to their ofices (by prior arrangement obviously) and let them chat to you abou why you love your wedge so much .. they're enthusiasts and maybe just need their wedge thinking massaged in the right direction, so to speak.

Just a head ups but....

Kevin Leaper PPC's MD spent yesterday with me at Silverstone for a feature/photoshoot all about the 520SE.
This included him driving the beast around the circuit. Don't know when the feature will appear but certainly his opinion of wedges
is somewhat different to what it was. I'm not sure when I have seen such a big grin!

That should certainly revised his opinion for the better Steve!
Well done mate.
Do you think it would be worth contacting him to see if they/he would attend BBWF - while Wedges are on a roll, and he`s still grinning!!!

I think this is a really good idea - strike whilst the irons hot.

I buy this mag each month, and a part of me always hopes to see a wedge article, or even a picture or 2. Alas...frown

C'mon PPC, take a look at the Wedges. BBW will do the trick - honestbiggrin

His opinion of 'slightly' non-standard wedges might have changed - we'll just have to see if the opinion of others has changed too wink

Have to admit that when we spoke on Sunday, the thought of your car being in a "practical" car magazine made me quite amused...

I think there was a wedge in the walkers world section a while back, possibly 2 years ago, a 600 bhp (i think) twin turbo 3.1 V6 Cosworth, from the Dunlop Tuscan Challenge.

Think the 520 SEAC will be the first feature though.

Good work thumbup
