I need a new inlet hose, cos the current one has gone 'ard, and has split.

Does anyone know:

Is the hose that ACT sell just a 90 degree elbow, or does it also kink to line up with the AFM properly??

I've heard of people making a new bracket for the afm which angles it down at the front so the extra little kink in the hose route is removed, but I'd rather not do that if I dont have to...

P.S. also noticed that Merlins sell some flexible spiral wound ducting that claims not to collapse under vacuum. Would rather have the silicone though...

I sure The ACT one has a slight downward kink,

But I think your still have to point the AFM downard a bit.

It's not hard to make a custom bracket from a 3mm Ali.

Or you can do what I did and use silicone humps at each end and a ali 90 degree bend.

I've got a normal 90mm right angle samco from plenum to my jag afm,

but ahem the afm is still attached to the old flapper bracket via a couple of very good tie wraps and doesn't come loose

If I had a plenum - the above install is what I would do....

Thanks, fellas.

Looks like if I want to go the smoothbore silicone route, I have to roate the afm a little. I think I like Leigh's setup with the hump hoses best. I could probably get away with less tilt on the afm that way.

Installed samco on mine, only 90 degree bend not angled. It can be done by installing the new hose first and then remount AFM to the wing with a few shims.
Personally, I was a bit worried about the AFM (flapper) not being 100 percent horizontal - but keeping it as horizontal as possible seems to be fine. Must be an old thread on this on PH.
So a bit of a fiddle (but what isn`t?) but you should be fine.
Remark: Needed to take the spacers from the old hose to adjust to right diameter as samco was only available in one size fits all. Could be that this is only for a standard 350i.....
