Its a 400se but with a 350i rear bumper.
Confused me somewhat being as the 400se rear bumper is moulded in with the rest of the body and the 350i rear bumper is a bolt on / bolt off bit of kit!!!???

Unless its actually an early SEAC with a 400se nose-job

Thats actually a moulded rear diffuser, not a bolt on one, very similar to the SEAC body.
I have seen a few very early 400`s with this style rear and, I am guessing, the factory cobbled the first 400 moulds together using parts of the ealier SEAC mould, but modified the final production moulds to incorporate the fully underslung diffuser later.
Only my best guess and quite willing to be shot down by more knowledgable boffins.

Looks like a genuine 400SE to me .. but as Steve says it looks like a SEAC style rear .. Certainly looks like the one on mine and it could have been a replacement after an accident or have been done at the factory.
Other 88 F plate 400 se that I've seen have not had this but it's does not detract from it's looks.
Like Leigh - I find the normal 400 SE undertray better looking than the SEAC style but you cant have everything..
