headlight pod adjustment
Discussion
This might have been covered before but after searching I don't think have really found answer.
Got 1 headlight pod that is not lifting to full height when lights are on, but does when switched off.
Switch lights on, pod lifts but stops about 1" lower than should.
Switch lights off, pod then lifts up to full height before lowering back down.
When pod is down its position is well matched with bodywork.
Any way of adjusting this on the linkage or something slipping or gone out of alignment on the motor drive?

Had similar problems on my old 280i, I would say the linkage has slipped/moved, or not adjusted correctly. Also if you lie on the floor next to the offending pod there is usually a small round hole beneath each pod, you can put you hand up inside and there is a knob on the underneath of the motors which you can turn by hand to raise or lower the pod, you can try this, it's also usefull if pods fail to come up when you need them. Cheers.
The motor only rotates in one direction, so if the motor limit switch stops the crank arm / pod before 'TDC' then it will initially 'go up' on the down stroke. Will be the same in down position but not as noticable.
If you watch many wedges do this but to a small amount.
Bad news is that I don't think the switches are adjustable even if you open the motor gearbox - I guess someone will confirm or correct this.
One option - if you can get correct headlight alignment then leave as is.
Hope this helps and does't confuse too much.
