50mm diameter clock
Discussion
My 1987 350i has a round 50mm (2"?) diameter MotoMeter (time) clock, which has come to the end of its life. Most of the replacement ones I can find on ebay and the like have 60mm diameter bodies. I suppose I could open the hole up, but then it would look odd alongside the other gauges. Has anyone found a source of these?
Hey there, my clock died a while ago (moto-meter unit) and ive been looking for a ages trying to find one! Saw a couple in shops for £50 which seemed pricey, but luckily dad went to a car jumble last week and found a very similar moto-meter clock for £4!!!
It was a 24 volt version which on the back said '6-24 volt' and guess what...it works!!!!
Not sure if this helps you, but least if you find a 24 volt one i can tell you it will work!!

I found a funny thing about my car last summer.
Ive got a 1987 390SE, with the earlier type of dash, i.e. NOT the one with the full height centre console that leans towards the driver.
I found that with the (broken!) clock in the dash, said clock pushes hard against the heater box, and actually pushes it out of position by about an inch. This means that the screen demister vents do not line up with the heater box outlets - hence demister is non-existent cos none of the air actually gets there.
One to watch?!
I do not have a clock at all at the moment, as I would need one thats no more than an inch deep!
I might end up re-veneering the dah panel (its peeling...), and if I do I might just redo the panel totally minus the clock hole.
If you've got time to gorp at the clock, you're not scared enough!
