400SE Wheelarch paint ?
Discussion
The grey/black anti-chip protection paint is in a bad state on my wedge's rear arches.
Does anyone know what is the correct paint to use please ?
Also, can you get it in different colours, as I'd rather have it nearer to body colour. I think the current design spoils the line of the arch (to my eyes).

I used this stuff Graham:

"Hycote Stoneguard". I can't remember who recommended it but it is good stuff and dries with a slight rubberised texture. I know it is available in black or grey, but I'm not too sure about any other colours.

Nearly 20 years ago I remember being in a meeting with Dave Cummings (a great guy AKA Poser now sadly deceased)when he mentioned he was fed up with the number of warranty claims on the black stonechip paint on the 400 wheelarches. Apparently, it was just black underseal and kept coming off. I suggested clear or black plastic adhesive sheets like on Porsche 911s. He asked me to look into it and I found that the local Porsche bodyshop just purchased sheets from 3M and cut them to fit. I don't know whether this idea was ever adopted by TVR as the wedges were coming to the end of production by then. If i had a 400 I would definitely use decals and forget paint. Regards, Mark
I am using hamerite stone chip stuff I think. On average every two years to redo it. Also tried dinitrol stone chip but that had a cheaper feel to it if that makes and sense. Or was it Dinitrol and hamerite is purvy? Both from halfords anyway and alays try it on a gash bit of metal first.
