Tried that. I can put up with approximately the time it takes to park up along the front, walk over to the chip shop on the corner by the roundabout to order some pies, eat them and I have to leave the place before I start thinking of machine gunning chavs in 'leisure suites'! ;-)

Me & my family are into cruises - can't beat them IMO. Good value if you get a late deal its the only way to see the world....

thumbup Totally agree, try a Thomson cruise for your first one. Unpretentious and no hidden extra costs. Get the all-inclusive upgrade for drinks, well worth it.

I'll second that. We went last year (Thompson Destiny) and had a great holiday. As for the all inclusive drinks package, you can get 2 drinks each time you visit the bar so if your a cheapskate then only 1 of you has to have the drinks package and you both benefit - it worked for me wink

Edited to say, book last minute (saves money), book online (saves more money) and lastly, search through google for a voucher or discount code as you'll save even more money.

How about renting a trulli (one of those beehive shaped houses) in the Puglia region of Southern Italy. This area is not yet really established on the tourist map, and so the prices are still quite low. We stayed in one on a farm just outside Martina Franca / Ostuni a few years back and it was fantastic. As you're in the heel of Italy it's hot. There are many places to visit including the cave dwelings where Mel Gibson's "The Life of Christ" was filmed. The beaches are not the best in Italy, but at least they're still free and uncrowded. Almost no kids to be seen. Booze and food is plentiful and cheap. You can get Easyjet / Ryanair flights to Brindisi or Bari. If I can dig out some further details I'll pass them on.

Enjoy yourself
Don

Greek Islands, which one? - all the ones I see advertised on Thomson etc 'feature a large children's pool and daily animation activities' which instantly puts me off! ;-)

I love kids really, just couldn't eat a whole one.

Anyhow gotta go on this holiday and then sell this Grief in time for the BBWF! ;-)
